How to buy a wedding sherwani in Kerala without regretting it

We have dressed more than ten thousand weddings out of Pappinisseri. The mistakes repeat, and almost none of them are about taste.

Start ten weeks out, not four

A sherwani that fits is a sherwani that has been altered at least twice. The first fitting tells you what is wrong, the second confirms it is fixed. Four weeks leaves room for one, which is how people end up pinned into something on the morning.

The fabric matters less than the shoulder

Everyone arrives asking about silk or velvet. Nobody arrives asking about shoulder width, and that is the seam that decides whether you look tailored or borrowed. A cheaper fabric on a correct shoulder beats an expensive one hanging off you, every time.

Kerala in May is not Delhi in December

Heavy velvet photographs beautifully and will make you miserable through a long day in a Kannur function hall. Lighter silks and blended weaves hold their shape in humidity. Ask what a piece does after four hours, not what it looks like on the hanger.

Buy the whole thing at once

Sherwani now, mundu later, shoes the week before. Then nothing matches and there is no time to fix it. Bring the full list on the first visit, even if you only commit to the main piece.

Bring one person, not six

Two opinions sharpen a decision. Six paralyse it. The party that leaves without buying almost always arrived in a group.

Alterations are free on anything bought from us, in any of our six stores. Message +91 97440 40075 and we will hold a fitting slot.
