Most sizing mistakes online come from people measuring themselves. Tape around a chest is easy to get wrong by two inches, and the number you get says nothing about how a particular shirt is cut.
Measure a garment, not a body
Take a shirt, kurti or trouser you already own and like the fit of. Lay it flat on a bed, smooth out the wrinkles, and measure it with a tape.
- Chest. Armpit to armpit, then double it.
- Length. Top of the shoulder seam straight down to the hem.
- Shoulder. Seam to seam across the back.
- Waist, for trousers. Across the flat waistband, then double it.
- Inseam. Crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
Send those five numbers on WhatsApp and we will tell you which size to order. That is a thirty second message that saves a return.
What our sizes actually mean
Sizes are not standard across brands, and they are not standard across categories either. A men's L in a cotton shirt is not the same body as a men's L in a slim fit t shirt. Kurtis run smaller than western tops of the same label. Abayas are cut long, so length matters more than width.
When in doubt
For anything structured, a blazer, a sherwani, a suit, order the size that fits your shoulders. Everything else can be taken in at the store. Shoulders cannot, or at least not cheaply.
For anything soft, a kurti, a t shirt, a dress, order the size that fits your chest and let the length be adjusted.
If it still does not fit
Ten days, unworn, tags on. Message us with your order number and we will start the return. If it is close and you like the piece, bring it to any Spanial store and the alteration counter will look at it. That is usually faster than shipping it back and forth.
WhatsApp us on +91 97440 40075 before you order rather than after. It costs you nothing and it is the whole reason we keep the number on every page.
